2025 Graduates

Connor Hernon, DO

MD: Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine

Medical interests: I am interested in full-spectrum outpatient family medicine. I also have interests in higher acuity care and plan to spend my elective time in the ICU and ED.

Hobbies: My hobbies include Brazilian jiu jitsu, shooting sports, weightlifting, and spending time with my wife and German Shepherd Dog.

Why I Chose Mount Carmel: As a Columbus, Ohio native I wanted to serve the community in the capacity of a resident family physician. When I interviewed with Mount Carmel, I immediately felt comfortable talking with all of the faculty and residents. I was also drawn to the program because it is an unopposed residency.

Post Residency: Dr. Hernon has joined the Emergency Medicine field, and is completing a residency at The Ohio State University.

Frank Rich, MD

MD: American University of Antigua College of Medicine

Medical interests: My special interests within Family Medicine include women’s health and procedural medicine

Hobbies: In my free time I enjoy traveling with my wife and trying new foods from around the world. I have a golden retriever named Jax who we love taking to the park. I enjoy golfing and anything related to being on the water – boating, kneeboarding, and scuba diving. I also like to build computers, game, and watch movies with my wife, dog, and two cats, Zoey and Nelly.

Why I Chose Mount Carmel: I chose Mount Carmel because I had such an amazing interview experience. Everyone was so friendly and genuinely seemed interested in my goals for the future, as well as my interests both inside and outside of medicine. I also grew up in a similar community in Northeast Ohio and wanted to continue to serve the people of the Buckeye State!

Post Residency: Dr. Rich is an outpatient physician with the Cleveland Clinic.

Michaela Casperd, DO

Medical interests: Preventative medicine, sports medicine, outpatient medicine

Hobbies: My wife and I enjoy camping, hiking, and playing with our 2 dogs. I enjoy watching sports as well as playing soccer and disc golf.

Why I Chose Mount Carmel: I chose Mount Carmel because I was looking for a residency program with well-rounded training experiences and supportive residents and faculty. Living in Kentucky, I never had the chance to rotate at St. Ann’s Hospital. However, several of my friends from other medical schools had great experiences on clinical rotations with Mount Carmel. The location was also appealing to me as Westerville is a beautiful town just outside of Columbus.

Post Residency: Dr. Towles joined Mount Carmel Medical Group, here in Central Ohio.

Brittany Kuss, DO

DO: Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine - Dublin

Medical interests: Preventive Medicine, Biosocial Medicine, Perinatal Mental Health, Lifestyle Medicine, Community Health, Hospital Medicine

Hobbies: Spending time with my husband and two children, exploring new restaurants and recipes, being active, reading.

Why I Chose Mount Carmel: I have a strong connection to Westerville as an alumni of Otterbein College. During my medical school rotation at St. Ann’s, I was impressed with the multidisciplinary approach to both patient care and resident training, including on-site pharmacy and behavioralist support. In addition, the strong inpatient training prepares residents to manage varying levels of acuity.

Post Residency: Dr. Kuss joined Mount Carmel Medical Group, here in Central Ohio.
